You are an Influencer

We live in a weird time where we identify people as being "influencers". Being an influencer is supposed to mean enough people care about what a person thinks, pays attention to, wears, or talks about that it makes a difference.

Opinions are followed. Jeans are wide or skinny. Shows are on trend. The insulated cup everyone now has is in my hand. What is even more odd is some people aspire to be an influencer. Who has the thought, "I want people to care about what I say, wear or eat"? Next comes the staged selfies in an immaculate house or at a big event. A warm beach breeze blows in their hair, it’s 35 degrees and cloudy for us. Influencers are with the cool people and the lighting is always amazing.

Guess what....maybe you are not on the beach or your house is a little messy but you are an influencer!

Look around. Everywhere in your life, there are cool people you have relationships with. You live in some of the best places on earth to exist and you mostly have it made in life when you stop and think about it. What is most important is that what you do does get noticed whether you want it to or not. There aren’t viral videos or trending views about what you did today but what you say and do is being replayed in people's memories and frequently replicated. Even your discount-insulated cup gets some likes from people who appreciate how you spend your money.

What you say or do goes further than you think. Every small word or action communicates and influences. The wrong word or action tells someone what not to do. But when it's admirable others emulate. By definition that is influence.

Who has had a strong influence on you? What do you hope for your influence to be?
